BRING THE NOISE

2006 is going to be a big year for The Noisettes, a year that sees this fiery art-rockers shake off that ‘best-kept secret’ tag and explode on the overground. Led by the petite Shingai Shoniwa, a frontwoman whose idiosyncratic voice has already won comparisons to outsider female vocalists from Billy Holiday to Bjork, this London trio have already toured the US with The Kills and supported Bloc Party and the Mystery Jets back here on home soil.

Right now, they’ve only got one rare, self-released EP – the excellent ‘Three Moods Of The Noisettes’ – under their belt, but their new single ‘IWE’ is due January 30th, out on Transgressive Records (previously home to The Young Knives, The Subways, and Mystery Jets). The Noisettes play Clwb on Friday January 13th, with support on the night coming courtesy of local heroes The Keys, reconvened after a lengthy hiatus with a new suite of twanging, primitive rock’n’roll, and newcomers Good Shoes. Tickets cost £6, available now from the main Clwb website
